1 - Material Information

1a - Stone/Marble/Slate/Granite:

All measurements are approximate and may vary slightly. There can be a variation in colour and veining in fireplaces which have been manufactured from natural materials, so may appear slightly different from photographs, printed material and any showroom displays that relate to these products. Any such variation is beyond our control and cannot be regarded as faulty or substandard. Due to the nature of the materials used in construction of these fireplaces it may be necessary to reinforce, repair or use suitable filler to eliminate breccation in the material. All the fireplaces are suitable for use with gas and electric fires as standard. Boxed and lipped hearths are not suitable for solid fuel applications. Should you require solid fuel use, the hearth should be solid, sectioned and supplied with a hearth plate if required. Due to the high moisture content of stone, fireplaces will dry over time and become lighter in appearance. Care must be taken before and during installation, as all fireplaces are untreated and are susceptible to discoloration. It is recommended that the completed installation is sealed with 'Lithofin - Stainstop'.

1b - Cast Iron:

All the cast iron products are delivered with a protective, oil-based coating on polished surfaces. This should be cleaned off during installation. It is recommended that a spray-type oil is applied from time to time in order to avoid rust forming. Ensure that the room in which the cast iron product is being installed is thoroughly dry. Recently plastered walls cause high levels of moisture in the atmosphere and, as a result, rust is almost inevitable. Under no circumstances should a water-based cleaner or polish be used to clean cast iron products. Fire baskets are more prone to moisture from your chimney dropping onto their exposed surfaces. This is likely to promote corrosion, even to plated cast iron products. To minimise this it is recommended that you have your chimney thoroughly swept clean and possibly a suitable cowl fitted. When using ceramic fuel, ensure that none touches any of the polished surfaces. This will help to minimise the possibility of thermal discoloration. When using gas fires, the products of combustion can sometimes cause white deposits to form. These deposits can usually be removed with a soft brush. When using cast iron products in a solid fuel application it is advisable to burn small fires initially. This aids in the tempering of the cast iron. High temperature paint is used on the black and graphite products where fires will burn. This paint will eventually burn off. A proprietary high temperature paint can be used to re-coat your fireplace. Such paint is available from GascoDIRECT.

1c - Timber:

As with all natural materials, timber is subject to natural markings and variation in grain pattern as well as colour which forms the character of the timber. All natural timber surrounds are kiln dried and therefore contact with even the minimum of moisture may lead to movement. Timber mantles should never be installed against a newly plastered wall. Most timbers, especially Cherry, will mature in colour over a short period of time. This is a natural occurrence dependant on exposure to natural light.

2 - Installation

It is strongly advised that you always use a registered Gas Safe installer for all gas installations, a HETAS registered installer for all Solid Fuel appliances, competent electricians for all electrical work and professional, experienced Fireplace Installers for ALL fireplace installations. Please contact us if you need technical help or details of our installation service.

Failure to use such registered installers may invalidate any warranty that the manufacturer of the product offers. Installation instructions are offered by some but not all of the manufacturers, therefore we advise a competent installer be appointed by you in all cases.

Any problems should firstly be reported to the installer. Once the installation has been checked and it is confirmed that the problem is with the appliance, a warranty call by the manufacturers will be arranged.

Before the installation of a gas fire takes place a smoke test needs to be carried out where applicable and a gas soundness test to the existing gas system. A spillage test and a second gas test need to be carried out on completion. Spillage tests with poor draw may be affected by adverse weather conditions. Many flues or chimneys built to specification will not always provide sufficient pull to clear the products of combustion from the fire - this is not necessarily the fault of the fire and rectification works to address the problems may be chargeable by the installer in order to leave the appliance in a safe situation.

We cannot be held responsible for any damage arising from incorrect or unqualified installation. In the unlikely event that there is a defect in any of the products purchased, a replacement will be supplied. Of course, this requires the products to be fully inspected prior to installation as no responsibility for re-fitting or redecoration can be accepted if defective products have been installed. In this case and in the case of accidental damage after installation, in-situ repairs can possibly be made by specialists subject to charge.

2A A COPY OF OUR INSTALLATION QUOTATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS : 

Period of Quotation This quotation is open for acceptance within 28 days, of the date hereof, and may be subject to a revised quotation, subject to fluctuation costs of products etc - unless a longer acceptance period has been agreed.

Basis of tender. A: We will provide all labour, materials and equipment necessary for the proper execution of the works only as detailed.
B: Any remedial works found to be required, to any existing installation, gas supply or flue system, but not detailed within our quotation, especially if required to conform with current safety and legislative requirements, will be charged as an extra-over cost.
C: The customer shall bear the cost of any fuel. Water, or electricity used during the period of works covered by this quotation.
Variations We shall not be liable to carry out any variations to the works as detailed in our quotation, unless such variation/s and any difference in cost has been agreed in writing. Payment Unless otherwise agreed in writing we require a deposit before goods can be ordered. Any balance is due prior to installation. Installation is due on completion. Any reason for withholding payment should be notified in writing immediately after completion of the installation. In the event of manufacturers faults , the balance is still due whilst we endeavor to achieve contact with the manufacturers so they can arrange a visit or spares to be sent. Deposits are not refundable.

Commencement Date Any indication of a probable commencement date provided at the initial enquiry or survey will have been subject to works in hand at that time. When accepted the works will be scheduled at the earliest available date or a later date as may be agreed between both parties. This date will be subject to the number of other acceptances received whilst your quotation was prepared. A provisional date will be provided on receipt of your acceptance and deposit, and will be confirmed when all required goods have been received into stock.

Quality of work. All workmanship and materials and the application of standards to the work shall comply with established good codes of practice, and in accordance with all current legislative, Gas Safe and Hetas requirements.

Materials, appliances & equipment. The ownership of all materials, appliances and equipment delivered to the site shall not pass to the customer until payment in full has been received. The customer shall take all reasonable steps to protect and keep in safe custody all goods delivered to site, whether fixed of unfixed. We will accept liability for all damage to our goods delivered, whether fixed or unfixed during the progress of works, provided that such liability shall not attach to damage or destruction caused by negligence or willful misuse by the customer.

Guarantee The installation is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of completion. However we reserve the right in the first instance in respect of new appliances, finished goods and operational equipment supplied, to allow the manufacturers a reasonable time and opportunity to inspect and replace any parts found to be defective, and/or replace the faulty goods completely in accordance with their own warranty obligations.

Legal Compliance The installation will be carried out on the understanding that the customer has full legal rights to instruct these works to be carried out. Particularly in respect of any charges over the property by mortgagees or others, any leasehold or tenancy agreement, or any permissions as may be lawfully required by the local authority, other lawful authority, or any joint owner/s of the property.

Contact with moisture may lead to movement. Most timbers, especially Cherry, will mature in colour over a short period of time. This is a natural occurrence dependant on exposure to natural light.

Preparatory works by others. Where it has been agreed that preparatory works will be carried out by the customer, or others on their behalf, we reserve the right to charge for our engineers abortive/extra labour time if these works have not been completed or correctly carried out to enable the installation to proceed, at the agreed time and date provided. In particular where alterations to an existing fire opening have not been carried out in accordance with the specific dimensions and tolerances provided.

Legal Obligations We are legally obliged to carry out a pressure test to any existing gas supply already installed in the property. In the unlikely event that this pressure test fails, we are obligated to carry out the remedial works required to achieve a successful pressure test. Alternately we are legally bound to isolate or disconnect the gas supply until the satisfactory remedial works are carried out by either ourselves, or others qualified to do so. In this event we reserve the right to charge for engineers abortive time if they are unable to proceed with any of the new installation works. Likewise we are obliged to carry out a second pressure test to the gas supply on completion of our installation and to ensure this is satisfactory as part of the quotation. We are also obliged to carry out a spillage test in relation to Carbon Monoxide or other flue gas emissions, and achieve a satisfactory result. However if this cannot be achieved due to the existing flue or other situation not being part of our quoted works, further
remedial works may be required. Although a previous smoke test may have proved positive and visually the flue system appeared satisfactory at the time
the suitability survey was carried out, various factors can effect the flue efficiency apart from the new appliance that has been installed, such as
ventilation, temperature, wind, air pressure and other weather conditions. In the unlikely event that further works are required to achieve a satisfactory
spillage test to meet our legal requirements, i.e alterations to the flue, provision of a chimney cap, fitting a new wall or floor vent etc, this will be charged as an
extra cost to our quotation.

Exclusions No allowance has been made for any decoration works to disturbed areas during the course of our installation unless specifically detailed within our quotation. General making good will normally be carried out, although further preparation may be required prior to re-decoration by others.
Connections to an existing Gas supply are made on the assumption that the existing pipe work size remains consistent and suitable for the new appliance to
be installed. Where a suitability survey has been carried out, we cannot be held responsible for any defects that may become apparent during or after the
installation works, which could not reasonably have been foreseen during the visual inspection by our surveyor. Our survey has been carried out to confirm
that the required goods and/or appliance selected , will be suitable for the particular situation within the property, and is carried out on a visual basis,
including measurements & suitable smoke test etc where applicable. Should the customer have any reason to doubt the structural condition of the existing
chimney breast, flue or stack then we recommend a structural survey is carried, prior to any new installation being carried out. Where a chimney is found to be
‘noisy’ on completion of works and could not have been foreseen, we cannot be held responsible but will, if permitted, take necessary steps to try and overcome
the problem at extra cost. This cannot always be cured and is largely due to the design of the chimney and/or the flue outlet in relation to the wind and
atmosphere surrounding it. No allowance has been included for any extra remedial works required where it is found that some or all of the existing flue system does not comply to current standards.

Cancellations Any cancellations may be subject to a re-stocking fee of up to 50% plus any carriage costs. Please be aware that a number of manufacturers/suppliers do not accept product returns at all so therefore the balance of the goods will still be due. Deposits may not be refundable.

 

3 - Servicing

All gas appliances must be serviced at least once a year by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer. When the warranty period has expired you are welcome to call our sales team who will be happy to take your details and arrange for a service engineer to call.

4 - Delivery & Returns

Deliveries are made using either our own transport or reputable carriers although we recommend you collect.

For security and health and safety reasons, it is required that someone is present to receive the goods in all cases. In the event of a 'palletised' delivery it is advised that at least two persons are present to accept delivery, as the drivers are only allowed to place the pallet at the entrance to the property. Unpacking and moving of goods is the responsibility of the customer, and the pallet is left for customers to dispose of themselves.

All deliveries require checking AND a signature stating 'received in good condition' as standard. Please open and inspect goods in the presence of the delivery driver, as we will accept no responsibility for damage after the driver has left. Once goods are signed for they are deemed the responsibility of the customer.

If for any reason the goods are delivered damaged, such damage must be reported by email within 24 hours of arrival, whereupon arrangements will be made for such replacements as deemed necessary.

If any parts are missing from the delivery, and can be proved to have been ordered in the first instance, then these also need to be reported by email within 24 hours of arrival. Failure to comply with this may incur further delivery charges for any parts missing.

We are not liable for any costs incurred by you or any loss of earnings. For example if a delivery is delayed in anyway and you have to rebook an installer then we are not liable for any extra charges that the installer may charge you. We always recommend that you do not book an installer until you are in receipt of the goods. We are also not liable for any loss of earnings as a result of you taking time off work to accept a delivery even if it is late or delayed.

  

5 - Warranty

If you have a problem with your appliance within the warranty period and you have your receipt or invoice showing the date of purchase, a call will be made to the manufacturers. The manufacturers are obliged to rectify the problem within a reasonable timescale and must be given the opportunity to correct an issue.

6 - Pricing

All prices stated within the showroom are fully inclusive of VAT at the current rate. In the unfortunate event of price rises from our suppliers, Gasco Fireplace Gallery therefore, reserves the right to revise the price of goods until the display prices are updated in the showroom and online.

7 - Accuracy of Information

The information, description, dimensions etc of all product is provided by such manufacturers, and inasmuch as we endeavour to keep the information correct, we cannot take responsibility for typographical errors that may occur. If you require verification of any information it is advised that you ring the help line to clarify. Gasco Fireplace Gallery reserve the right to change specification and design of fireplaces designed by Gasco Fireplace Gallery wiithout formal notice.

8 - Website Usage

Gasco Fireplace Gallery will not accept liability in the event of computer viruses being inadvertently transmitted to users, either from the website or from the use of third party websites to which the site provides links. Gasco Fireplace Gallery will also not accept liability for any loss of business due to the lack of access to our website due to any such failure or maintenance to said website.

 

9 - Spare Parts - Spare parts are ONLY available with the correct part number, make and model of appliance and importantly the serial number. In most cases spare parts can be returned unless faulty.
